Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications forLead Maintenance Mechanic.

As a working lead person, performs and supervises maintenance of systems and structures for buildings and grounds throughout the University complex. Supervises the work of Maintenance Mechanics and coordinates the work of contractors.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems and powered tools and equipment.
  • Maintain, renovate and rehabilitate structures and structural components to include roofs, doors, windows, framing, siding, fencing, and structural masonry.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of University based electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, masons, locksmith, and maintenance mechanics.
  • Maintain appropriate records documenting the repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinate the purchase of equipment and supplies with University personnel.
  • Perform snow removal work as required.
  • Lead and perform other work and services including moving furnishings and staff persons.
  • May perform after-hours emergency work as needed. Must be available for "on-call" status when scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Training and experience in the varied fields of structure and system maintenance with experience in the mechanical/electrical fields required.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating and contracting methods and familiarity with plans and specifications relating to maintenance and construction required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Five years of related management or supervisory experience desired.
