DLB Custom Extrusions, LLC manufactures custom plastic extruded sheet solutions for a variety of thermoplastic applications. Our state of the art 90,000 manufacturing facility is located in Evansville, IN. We offer a high-quality product with special attention focused on our customers' production timelines.
Today, DLB Custom Extrusions is a member of the DURAMAX SOLUTIONS family consisting of AMD Plastics, DLB Custom Extrusions, Forming Technologies and Duramax Holdings dba Otto Environmental Systems. We are continuously expanding our plastics manufacturing capabilities in thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding and plastic recycling while providing high-tech products and innovative solutions to meet the needs of our customers.
POSITION AVAILABLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR
Seeking an experienced, motivated, results driven SHIFT SUPERVISOR for our fast paced, plastic extrusion manufacturing plant.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for leading production staff to meet and exceed goals of production of plastic injection molded products. Responsible for providing direction, leadership and coaching for optimum production performance while ensuring top quality of products produced in a safety focused environment.

  • Analyze and interpret job specifications, quality requirements and material usage to direct employees and assign duties.
  • Oversee line start-ups, changeovers, grinding and shutdowns to ensure efficiency and minimize devaluation.
  • Prepare all affected personnel for upcoming production changes as required on the production schedule (i.e., change overs, set ups, color and material changes, line outs).
  • Establish and enforce the use of standardized work processes and procedures to ensure consistent quality at lowest possible cost.
  • Audit production documentation and assess the quality of the product(s) produced to ensure they meet written customer requirements.
  • Communicate with other shift supervisors and production manager to inform of the progress of the production schedule, advise process issues / variances that occurred, and report maintenance issues.
  • Manage employee relations, activities such as providing appropriate performance feedback, administering discipline, and ensuring proper training of personnel.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product.
  • Analyze and address production issues (involving materials, machinery, or manpower); assign / delegate resources to resolve these issues.
  • Complete required records / documentation for tracking performance (attendance, timecards, training, and production reports).
  • Oversee activities involved in machine tear downs, line outs, and set ups to evaluate quality, safety and accuracy of the procedures performed.
  • Audit and address deficiencies in good manufacturing housekeeping and safe working conditions throughout the plant.
  • Maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner when communicating expectations effectively with others, handling conflict, and addressing issues.
  • Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of company assets.
  • Comply with standard safety practices, and company guideline / policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Available Shifts:
Day Shift: 5:30am to 6:00pm (2-2-3 rotation)
Night Shift: 5:30pm to 6:00am ( 2-2-3 rotation)

2-2-3 rotation schedule defined:

Week 1 - ON Monday and Tuesday, OFF Wednesday and Thursday, ON Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Week 2 - OFF Monday and Tuesday, ON Wednesday and Thursday, OFF Friday, Saturday & Sunday

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to effectively lead a team with a positive attitude to meet / exceed production goals of volume, quality and safety.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing/production related documents and reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from internal leadership and customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to plant management
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Detail oriented and ability to lead others in working efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to respond to problems quickly, while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the desire to succeed; Holds self-accountable for positive performance.
  • Quality focused with keen attention to detail and able to direct quality emphasis to production team to ensure production perfection.

  • Basic math skills required for production and inventory reporting.
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience in ERP systems also preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Additional college-level courses in engineering, manufacturing or management subjects desirable
  • Plastic Extrusion Molding manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
  • 3 or more years supervisory experience in fast paced manufacturing / production environment.
