DLB Custom Extrusions, LLC manufactures custom plastic extruded sheet solutions for a variety of thermoplastic applications. Our state of the art manufacturing facility is located in Evansville, IN. We offer a high-quality product with special attention focused on our customers' production timelines.
Today, DLB Custom Extrusions is a member of the DURAMAX SOLUTIONS family consisting of AMD Plastics, DLB Custom Extrusions, Forming Technologies and Duramax Holdings dba Otto Environmental Systems. We are continuously expanding our plastics manufacturing capabilities in thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding and plastic recycling while providing high-tech products and innovative solutions to meet the needs of our customers.
POSITION AVAILABLE: PRODUCTION MANAGER FOR FAST PACED/GROWING PLASTIC EXTRUSION MANUFACTURING PLANT
JOB SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates activities of production of company products to ensure the company meets / exceeds goals of production, quality and safety. The Production manager will be responsible for driving overall accountability for the plant operations.
Management Activities:
  • Responsible for the daily supervision of the plant operations to ensure the manufacturing process is within budget and time schedule.
  • Confers with Management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Ensures that the plant environment meets the required safety standards, and direct reports receive the necessary safety training.
  • Sets initiatives for and directs Production Supervisors and Plant Floor Associates in housekeeping (5S), training/development, scrap reduction, downtime reduction, quality, compliance with company policies, team development, etc.
  • Participates in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the company quality system.
Production:
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Sets the schedule and is responsible for attainment of same.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Determines priorities to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, materials, quality control, engineering, customer service, and HR to obtain optimum production output and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Responsible for workforce planning, staffing levels and labor tracking.
  • Compiles statistics of production data. Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems. Drives corrective actions with action plans.
Improvements:
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Responsible for improving mold set-up time and product cycle times
  • Responsible for improving the quality of products and services provided by their department.
  • Recommends improvements to processes, products, services or procedures.
  • Responsible for actions to ensure positive employee morale and safe working conditions for all team members.
  • Other duties assigned by the General Manager or Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and react quickly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to lead and coach a team for optimum performance while ensuring engaging and positive employee morale.
  • Sense of urgency and drive to respond to problems and establish systems to minimize either planned or unplanned disruptions of manufacturing.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • ERP systems experience (example: SAP, Epicor)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree preferred, or equivalent level of experience desired
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Supervisor experience in a plastic EXTRUSION manufacturing plant preferred
  • Strong knowledge of quality initiatives for manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ISO/TS16949 a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Office, Plant, Warehouse
